The Hang Seng Index opened 0.8% higher at 16,776.66 in Hong Kong.
Tencent Holdings Ltd. contributed the most to the index gain, increasing 1.5%. Trip.com Group Ltd. had the largest increase, rising 3.4%.
In early trading, 50 of 82 shares rose, while 27 fell; 3 of 4 sectors were higher, led by commerce and industry stocks.
